Peel season, short for chemical peel season, is just around the corner so what does that mean? It’s the best time of the year for your skin to receive a deeper exfoliation due to the change in weather. The summer months make it challenging to avoid the heat and sun for such an advanced treatment making the cooler months ideal.
After a peel it’s possible to experience flaking, peeling, dryness, and even a deeper pigmentation through the process. For this reason, it’s important to focus on healthy hydrated skin before a series of chemical peels. I often share that 80% of the results are due to at home care and 20% is in the treatment room. With that being said a Reboot and Maintain facial can be beneficial to start with and a review of your current routine.
The top three products that are important in a routine during a series of chemical peels are an SPF (of course), tyrosinase inhibitor (brightening), and barrier protection (better hydration). Remember not all products are formulated the same so guidance from an esthetician is best to avoid buying more than you need in the skincare aisle.
So, the question is, are you ready for peel season or should we chat and get you ready?
